This is the third post on Seefeldstrasse and part of The Streets of Zurich series. The restaurant featured in this post is located right in front of Iroquois, the restaurant I reviewed in my previous Seefeldstrasse post. Actually, the two restaurants share the same owner.
Totò is an Italian coffee house and restaurant with a menu interestingly focused on mozzarella – not only the usual one, but also mozzarella di buffala (the mozzarella made from the milk of water buffaloes in the Italian region Campania) and burrata (a cheese made from mozzarella and cream, typical of another Italian region, Apulia).
The restaurant is named after the Italian director and actor Totò (1898-1967). There are many photos of Italian movie stars hanging on the restaurant’s walls. Probably the most impressive piece of decor when stepping in is the huge flower painting on one of the walls. Loved it.
What I also loved decor-wise was the very pretty painting on the restroom’s ceiling!
The vintage-looking flooring was lovely, too!
Every day over lunchtime, Totò offers several lunch options, including a vegetarian dish. Nevertheless, I decided to order à la carte.
I started my lunch with a mushroom cream soup and also ordered a diet coke.
Now, a true Italian would never order a pizza for lunch and, as a matter of fact, most restaurants in Italy would not serve pizza but in the evening. But since I’m living abroad… I did have a pizza! I went for a simple one, a margherita, given the lack of any other veggie pizzas on the menu, sadly. (My favorite pizza and the one I usually order is pizza quattro formaggi, but it was not on the menu.)
Although I would have been happier to see a few more veggie dishes on Totò‘s menu, I really enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. And the food tasted very good, too. A good spot on Seefeldstrasse for both a solo or a business lunch.
