Cappuccino

Cappuccino

Cappuccino is an Italian coffee drink prepared with a shot of espresso and steamed milk. Many baristas add chocolate sprinkles as a garnish. If you ask for a cappuccino chiaro (meaning “light” in Italian), the barista will add less coffee and more milk than usual. If you ask, instead, for a cappuccino scuro (meaning “dark”), you will be served more coffee and less milk than usual.

  1. In your experience, is there any similarity between an Italian cappuccino and what passes for a cappuccino in the big coffee chains in the UK? My recollection is that even a normal Italian cappuccino had far more coffee and far less milk than what the UK/US market is used to (especially in the big chains).

    Thanks,
    Brian.

PS I want one now as well 🙂
