This is the third post on Limmatquai, the street running parallel to the river Limmat and the second one to be featured in The Streets of Zurich blog post series.
The following are four spots on Limmatquai I recommend for a good veggie sandwich.
Dada Bar is the café and restaurant of Hotel Limmatblick, only a few steps away from Zurich’s main train station. The café’s interiors are inspired by Dadaism, an art and cultural movement that began in Zurich in 1916, spreading to other European cities shortly after.
I recently had a large-sized focaccia with mozzarella, eggplant, zucchini, and tomato (12 SFr.) It was served warm on a dish decorated with balsamic vinegar and cherry tomatoes.
Address: Limmatquai 136, 8001 Zurich

Gran Caffè Motta
Gran Caffè Motta is a Milan-inspired coffee house right in the middle of Limmatquai. I went there yesterday for breakfast.
The coffee house has a few sandwiches on its menu. Among the veggie options on offer: focaccia with mozzarella, tomato, and pesto sauce (8,90 SFr.). It is served warm.
Address: Limmatquai 66, 8001 Zurich
Opening hours: Mon-Sun, 7:30 a.m.-midnight
Kleiner is a chain of bakeries selling a wide range of sandwiches over lunchtime. There is one branch on Limmatquai, too.
I recently grabbed a parapan bread sandwich with Camembert cheese (6,70 SFr.). Parapan bread is a whole grain bread containing wheat, rye, wholemeal spelt, oat bran, sunflower seeds, linseeds, and sesame seeds. Undeniably one of the healthiest types of bread for a sandwich!
Address: Limmatquai 116, 8001 Zurich
Opening hours: Mon-Fri, 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. / Sat, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Limmatquai has two Starbucks branches on both ends.
Both places have the same selection of sandwiches. Besides bagel with cream cheese, a veggie sandwich they have on offer is ciabatta with mozzarella, tomato, arugula, and balsamic vinegar (7,90 SFr.). It is served warm.
