The streets of Zurich: Limmatquai: Gran Caffè Motta

Today I celebrate five months of foodie travel blogging. I would like to take this occasion to say THANK YOU to all you amazing readers! I really appreciate you taking the time to read, like, and comment on my blog posts.

And what better way to celebrate than with a lavish breakfast at Gran Caffè Motta, a Milan-inspired coffee house right in the middle of Limmatquai?

The coffee house has been recently renovated and has simple, yet pretty interiors with wooden furniture.

Besides the decor, what is particularly attractive of this coffee house for both regular clients and tourists is the view over the Limmat River.

They have several breakfast combinations on their menu. However, I preferred to order à la carte. I went for a cheese platter with Gruyère, Provolone, and Appenzeller cheese, together with some bread. I also ordered a latte macchiato.

After eating the cheese, I spent some time browsing the papers – this is one of the few spots in town where people spend their time reading the papers or a book with their morning coffee.

I was still a little hungry afterwards, so I ordered a small focaccia with mozzarella and tomato.

Gran Caffè Motta is definitely a nice spot for a lazy weekend breakfast. I’ve never been there for lunch, but their selection of Italian antipasti and pasta dishes sounds worth checking out soon!
